Each borough and township typically is governed by either a
borough council or township board of commissioners or board of
supervisors -- composed of elected, unpaid citizen-members.
Some also have paid, appointed professional managers in place as
chief administrators.
Since January 2000, Allegheny County is governed by an elected,
paid County Executive and an elected, paid County Council - some of
whose members represent districts, and some who are elected at
large.
State and Federal
Pennsylvania is governed on the executive side by an
elected Governor and Lieutenant Governor. The bi-cameral
legislative arm comprises Legislators and Senators - all paid and
elected to represent districts. For a complete listing of
these officials, to contact them, or to find out the latest
information on pending legislation, visit capitoladvantage.com.
